  • Description: Kamakshi or Kamakhya is the personification of Shakti, embodying tranquillity and beauty. The residing deity at Kanchipuram, Kamakshi Amman, usually depicted wearing a red saree, decked in jewellery, and holding the divine weapons pasa, ankusha, a bow of sugarcane and a floral arrow, which is uses to guide and protect her devotees. She also sometimes seen holding a green parrot, as she is here. Kamakshi is considered Parabramha Swaroopini -- the embodiment of ultimate consciousness or the supreme reality. Here she is shown worshipping Shiva.
