Description: Magnificent embellished brass idol of Venkateshwara that stands at 4 feet height. This unusual rendering combines the brilliance of brass and the timelessness of a stone idol, creating a striking contrast of black against gold. Venkateshwara, a manifestation of Vishnu, is also worshipped as Balaji or Srinivasa at the Tirumala Hills in Andhra Pradesh. Here he stands in his typical pose in on a decorated lotus platform holding the sankhu (conch) and chakra (discus) in his upper arms and his lower arms are in varada mudra (boon giving) and katya vilambita mudra (indicating protection to his devotees). His heavy-lidded eyes are partially covered by the white namam and he is richly bedecked with jewellery and floral garlands from his neck to his feet. his idol is hollow out at the back making it lighter than an idol of this size would be and easier to handle.
